Open Skies Project Meets at Mount Horace Greeley Tonight

In a land with little light pollution, seeing the stars and night sky can be awe inspiring. Tonight the Gratiot Lake Conservancy has invited the Copper Country’s night owls to join the group at Mount Horace Greeley for a night with the Open Skies Project. The event is co-hosted and led by Michigan Tech University Astrophysicist Doctor Robert Niemroff.

Great Lakes conservancy suggest to bring your own blanket, chairs, and refreshments to the event. Additionally the group asks that individuals planning to attend tonight’s open skies project, please register online. Register for the Open Skies Project’s event tonight here.

Parking will be on a wide, paved driveway slightly below the viewing field. Park between 9:30 pm and 10 pm while it is still light. Walk approximately a block or two on a paved road to the viewing field. Keeping light to a minimum will allow eyes to adjust for better dark sky viewing. There will be a port-a-potty onsite. No water available onsite.
