For many years the Ontonagon Theater of Performing Arts has shared the stage with local performers acts for many years. This Saturday the theater will hold a special fundraising concert, that will once again bring together local artists to share the stage. The Ontonagon Theater of Performing Arts will raise funds to improve the theater’s access for the elderly and disabled in the community. Approximately one-third of Ontonagon’s population is over the age of 65, and more than 850 households have one member with a disability. The group knows that right now, the entrance stairway may intimidate some in the community. The theater believes that increasing the ability and opportunity for all members of the community to access the theater, in turn, will help increase the community’s well-being. The theater has plans to make the facility easier to access. The fundraising concert will include local artists’ renditions of classic 50 and 60s styles of music. The concert will begin at 7 pm at the Ontonagon Theater of performing arts, located at 311 North Steel Street. Tickets cost 12 dollars. Go online to find more information on the theater’s accessibility project and links to purchase tickets.
