One taken to hospital after M-26 crash

A 15-year-old child was transported to UP Health System – Portage Wednesday afternoon after a sedan and pickup truck collided on M-26 in Portage Township.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department responded at 3:45 to the incident near Erickson Drive. A 16-year-old was behind the wheel of the car. The teen drove into the path of the pickup being steered by a 24-year-old from Schoolcraft Township.

There is no word on the condition of the injured passenger. Assisting at the scene were Superior Service, Michigan Tech Public Safety, Adams Township First Responders, Houghton Police Department, and Hurontown Fire and Rescue.
