Michigan DNR’s Not MI Species takes a look at a new invasive species located in the Upper Peninsula. Over the year the Michigan DNR has brought awareness of invasive species popping up throughout the state with its web information series, Not MI Species. Tomorrow the daytime webinar will take a look at the invasive Himalayan Balsam, commonly called Purple Jewelweed. The invasive species show orchid-like blooms and have high nectar volumes that are attractive to landscapers and insects. Three Shores CISMA coordinator Michael Hindy, Lake to Lake CISMA Coordinator Elise Desjarlais, and Upper Peninsual Resource Conservation Development county director Nick Cassell will host the webinar on purple jewelweed. Those interested in registering for the webinar can find a registration link online. The webinar will begin at 9 am over Zoom. Find more information here.
