The Northbound sidewalk on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge will close to pedestrian traffic today while MDOT crews complete elevator replacement work. Starting today, and continuing through June, the Portage Lake Lift Bridge northbound sidewalk will close, and a pedestrian detour set up. The repair is part of a 4.3 million dollar investment to replace bridge elevators and install false decking under a bridge span. Decking work was completed on the bridge last year. The project will ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge.
