A single lane will close on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge next week while MDOT crews continue elevator replacement work.
Starting Monday motorists should expect the northbound outside lane on the bridge to close to vehicle traffic during daytime hours. The northbound sidewalk will remain closed. The work continues the department’s 4.3 million dollar investment to replace bridge elevators and install false decking under one bridge span. The decking work was completed earlier in the year.
Regular repairs and maintenance to the Portage Lake Lift Bridge by the Michigan Department of Transportation ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the bridge.
