Team CC
Alex Nordstrom’s second goal of the evening gave Team Copper Country a 3-2 overtime victory over the West Chester Quakers last night, and a berth in the 18U Tier II 3A national championship game. Team CC played from behind most of the evening, giving up an early goal six minutes into the game, and another four-and-a-half minutes into the third period. Nordstrom responded eight seconds later with his first goal of the night. Ted Randell’s tally with two-and-a-half minutes remaining in regulation forced overtime. Nordstrom tipped in a rebound off a Rory Anderson shot in the opening seconds of OT for the game-winner.

Team Copper Country advanced to the semifinal with a 4-1 victory over Team Ohio yesterday morning. Randell’s short-handed goal gave Team CC a first-period lead. After a scoreless second period, goals by Kevin Bostwick and Jacob Kruse put Team CC in control. Team Ohio scored a late goal, and Jack Sturos closed the scoring with an empty-netter in the final minute.
