Northern Michigan University’s Center for Rural Health’s director has been selected to join the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Social Determinants of Health Hub Advisory Council. Elise Bur, director of the Center for Rural Health at NMU was recently selected to join the state’s advisory council for the Social Determinants of Health hub. The hub was created by MDHHS to bring community members, governments, healthcare professionals, and social service providers together to address and improve social determinants of health. As a member of the advisory council bur’s objective will include acting as a voice for rural communities, assisting in the development of a model that will support Community Health Workers, and collaborating with others at the state level.
