New business handled at Wednesday’s Hancock Council meeting

With over two hours of Wednesday’s Hancock City Council meeting devoted to old business, they still managed to take care of some new items. Jordan Johnson is relocating and his resignation from the Downtown Development Authority was accepted with regret. It is effective immediately, and the search for a replacement will begin soon. Jeff Kelly will be leaving the recreation and planning committees next month. Mayor Paul Labine announced Brooke Harris has been selected to replace him.

Parking on Tezcuco Street will be going back to a parallel alignment in a stretch near downtown. City Manager Mary Babcock said the change had occurred during construction between Quincy and East Franklin Street.

This was brought to my attention that currently there are 11 spots the way it was changed to during construction and all we would be doing is bringing it back to our pre-construction format. So we gain three spots.

A special meeting of the council dealing with rent fees is expected next week.
