Winter has started strong in 2024. Today the National Weather Service in Marquette posted its latest notice extending the winter storm warning into Baraga and southern Houghton Counties through the afternoon. The NWS forecast predicts more moderate to heavy snowfall accumulations caused by lake effect snow bands. Continuing to impact north snow belts today. Wind gusts are expected to come from the north-northwest between 30 and 50 miles per hour. A combination of blowing snow and high wind speeds will create dangerous travel conditions and near-zero visibility in areas. Find more information here.
