MSP posts across Michigan are accepting old and expired prescriptions and medications as a part the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The Calumet Post will be open tomorrow from 10 am to 2 pm to accept dropped off prescriptions. The take back event will only accept pills, and not liquid medications, the post also requests that those dropping off do not leave prescription pill bottles with them; as those items contain personal information. The Calumet pPost is not the only department participating locally. Old and expired prescriptions can be dropped off also at each Houghton Baraga and Keweenaw county sheriff departments, the MTU Campus and Public Safety Department, or Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Police. MSP does regularly accept old and expired prescriptions throughout the year, anytime during business hours. Houghton County Sheriff and MTU Public Safety departments each have 24 hour medication drop boxes, at their offices.
