National Park Service Requesting Public Input on a New Isle Royale Wilderness Stewardship Plan

The National Parks Service intends to prepare an environmental impact statement for a wilderness stewardship  plan on Isle Royale. The park service’s stewardship plan guides the park on actions for managing wilderness and cultural resources found within the park boundaries. As well as the preliminary issues and potential impacts associated with wilderness management. The plan additionally determines how preservation and use of historic structures in the park are designated. All national park wilderness stewardship plans are created in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. The initial gathering period is open for public review and comment for 30 days.  A newsletter describing the purpose and need for projects and potential alternatives is available on the NPS Planning, Environment and Public Comment (PEPC) website.
