MVAA Uses $2 Million to Support Projects that Combat Veteran Homelessness

Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency will distribute 2 million dollars in state grants to fight veteran homelessness in Michigan. Yesterday the MVAA announced they will distribute 2 million dollars to 13 area non–profits located throughout the state, equating to about 150,000 dollars per organization.

One of the 13 groups receiving funds includes Soldier Salvation in Houghton and Keweenaw Counties. Soldier Salvation will use its funding from the MVAA to establish a four-unit transitional complex for the Keweenaw Peninsula. The funds will support the project’s six phases including deed recording, ownership transfer, electrical and building upgrades, and more.
