MTEC SmartZone welcomes new CEO

Calumet native David Rowe took over as the Chief Executive Officer of the MTEC SmartZone on Monday. He is hitting the ground running. Along with Jason Mack, Rowe is looking to reach out to area tinkerers and inventors. It may only be an idea at this point, but Rowe says that is the perfect time to develop contacts that can help you as a budding entrepreneur.

We invite people who have ever thought about starting their own business, or maybe have an idea for a new product or new service. Come on in, meet Jason, he’ll tell you about our SmartStart Program. We’ll begin a dialogue of evaluating your idea, and giving you some suggestions.

The QuickStart event is Tuesday, August 17th at 6 PM at the Portage Lake District Library. Those in attendance can learn more about the SmartZone and the programs it offers, all the way up to support networks and facilities.

Rowe may be new to the role, but he is not new to the organization. Rowe worked with the SmartZone through its Talent Bridge program to help nurture a new local hub of operations for an Iron Mountain company named Systems Control.
