MTEC SmartZone Receives $4.1 Million in Grants to Support Furthering Small Business Innovation

The Mtec SmartZone receives 4.1 million dollars to help small businesses move innovation forward in Michigan. MTEC SmartZone has received two grants to support its mission as a business accelerator and an incubator where small businesses can grow from an idea into much more.

The first grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration totals 750,000 dollars, as a part of the Build to Scale program.

A second grant SmartZone will also receive to support small business growth and innovation comes from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as a part of the Small Business Support Hubs program and totals 3,426,316 million dollars.

The SBS hubs grant announced earlier in the month by Governor Gretchen Whitmer comes from the state’s American Rescue Plan funds. The Mtec SmartZone was awarded funding alongside 26 other small business incubators across Michigan.
