MSP Calumet and the Copper Country Stuff a Blue Goose to fight food insecurity

Michigan state police don’t just protect their community. They serve as well. Yesterday MSP Calumet Post troopers held the first of a series of Stuff a Blue Goose events at Tadych’s Marketplace in Houghton. The program asks customers to donate ten dollars, toward twenty dollars worth of food. The police agency then distributes to food pantries in the county.

So we’ve already sold half a dozen bags just in the first few minutes we’ve been here. All of the grocery stores have been phenomenal to work with. They’re all very willing to help out and they look forward to doing this as well because without the support of the grocery stores and the support of the community, this event won’t be as successful. – Alan Nahri, Community Service Trooper, Michigan State Police-Calumet Post

Today the troopers will arrive at Louie’s Super Foods in Lake Linden at 1 pm. Then next week the Calumet Post will host Stuff a Blue Goose at Larry’s Market in Baraga and Pat’s Foods in Lanse and Calumet.
