MSHDA Announces Next Round of MI-HOPE Funding Sends $7.4 Million to Organizations Working with Michigan Homeowners

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority continues to make funding available for homeowners making necessary upgrades to homes across the state. Yesterday MSHDA announced the use of 7.4 million dollars to support organizations making impacts in communities with the MI-HOPE Program. MI-HOPE was started in 2022 with the intent of improving the state’s housing stock and capacity through small home improvement projects. During the past two years, several agencies around the state have helped numerous homeowners improve their energy efficiency of houses, such as the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region.

Of the nearly seven and half million dollars in funding, Upper Peninsula agencies will receive a little more than one million dollars to support MI-HOPE and future projects. Of the 7.4 million dollars, three million dollars of the funds come from the America Rescue Action Plan.

WUPPDR will receive the most amount of funding in the Upper Peninsula with 500,000 dollars in funds. The other two organizations in the region receiving funds, the Alger-Marquette Community Action Board and Gogebic-Ontonagon Community Action Agency accounting for another 550,000 dollars infused into the Upper Peninsula for MI-HOPE projects.
