On Sunday afternoon, Houghton County Sheriff deputies were called out to an accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on M-203 near North Cloverland Road in Calumet Township. The biker failed to stop as the car in front of him attempted a left turn. The 57-year-old Minnesota man was ejected from his motorcycle, becoming airborne, and landing 40 feet away from the crash, into the tree line on the side of the road.

The 59-year-old Minnesota man driving the vehicle that was turning was uninjured. The motorcyclist was transported to Keweenaw Aspirus before being moved to a Minnesota hospital for additional treatment. There is no word on his current condition.

Michigan State Police, Calumet Township Fire and Rescue, Joe’s Towing, Mercy EMS, and several individuals assisted at the scene.
