Mont Ripley hoping for opening on the 18th

The snow machines continue on full blast at Mont Ripley. There was so much in the air Wednesday morning, that small clouds formed, drifting westward down the canal past the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. All of that work, the colder temperatures, and the dumping from Mother Nature this week has things lining up for an opening on December 18th.

Ticket Representative Isaac Gaddis says Ski School will be returning, and made affordable for everyone.

It’s a six-week course, one day per week, and includes rental equipment. If they qualify for that grant they can pretty much just show up. We’ll give ’em skis and snowboards, and we have professional instructors that work with them, both as a group and one-on-one.

The Every Kid Sport Foundation is giving $150 grants, up to four per year per child, to help cover registration fees for various athletic activities. To register a child, use this link. It is for those who can’t afford it otherwise, not the general public.

There are annual and corporate pass options for Mont Ripley, which can be purchased online or by phone. In 2020, a mild winter kept Ripley from opening until the calendar flipped to January of ‘21, but it is looking much more promising this year.
