Sunday afternoon, a child with Down’s Syndrome went missing on Lower Worham Road in Chassell Township. The incident has a happy ending as he was found about an hour later uninjured.
Houghton County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene around 2:45. The boy had been walking through the woods behind a home owned by a relative with his father when the two became separated. The boy was not familiar with the area.
Michigan State Police and the K-9 unit, Keweenaw County Sheriff K-9, Michigan Tech Public Safety, the Department of Natural Resources, and Superior Search and Rescue assisted Houghton County deputies in their efforts to locate the child.
