Through Copper Country art and artists, the region’s history, people and culture survives. And once again the Copper Country Community Arts Center is providing mini-grants to help communities do just that. CCCAC will disperse grants of up to 4,000 dollars from the Michigan Arts and Cultural Council, for communities to address local art needs. The mini grants are available for one to one match, in six western Upper Peninsula counties; Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties. Non profits, libraries, schools, and towns are encouraged to get creative, and come up with any number of forms of art such as commissions, sculptures, broadcasts, screenings, powwows, exhibits and many more. Individual artists can apply for up to 1500 dollars for the grant program. The deadline to submit a grant application is August 3rd.
