Mine Equipment Transportation Between Delta and Marquette Counties Next Monday and Tuesday Nights

MDOT announces mine equipment will travel between Escanaba and the Tilden Mine over two nights next week. Next Monday and Tuesday nights under permit with the Department of Transportation, contractors will move an oversized load from Escanaba to the mine in Tilden Township which may impact traffic patterns, causing slowdowns between 11 pm and 5 am each night. The first move will start Monday, transporting the equipment from Delta County on M-35, north on the highway to M-553, traveling to Marquette County Road 480, and back to M-35 to the mine. The haul rig will block lanes and travel at low speeds, led by a Michigan state police escort. Traffic will be stopped ahead of and behind the load. Periodically the transport will pull to the side so traffic can resume. MDOT encourages travelers to avoid the transport route during the times of 11 pm Monday to 5 am Tuesday, and then 11 pm Tuesday to 5 am Wednesday.
