Michigan Tech University’s College of Computing and Institute of Computing and Cybersystems will begin its annual showcase today. This year’s topic will dive into Artificial Intelligence, which has seen growing interest from the public. Especially over the past year
.
“And developing the next generation of AI algorithms. Things like large language models like ChatGPT. Which has become very much a fad, and has changed certainly the public awareness of AI. One example that we’re excited about right now is Laura Brown, in computer science was just awarded with her team, which is Michigan Tech’s first NRT grant. And it’s going to look at developing a program for graduate student education in the intersection of data science and climate resilience.” Tim Havens, Director, Institute of Computing and Cybersystems
Tonight’s schedule will honor various student and faculty for their achievements in the past year.
“So these achievement awards are given yearly to researchers and students at Michigan Tech who are doing high-impact research within cyber systems and computing areas. And then we are also going to have a poster session for students. This has always been a big event where several students from around campus are given out awards in several categories to students at that poster session.” Tim Havens, Director, Institute of Computing and Cybersystems
The College of Computing Honor College induction ceremony will be followed by the showcase’s first-panel discussion, AI in academia. As well as the annual student poster session showcasing various student research.
“I mean our students are doing some really exciting state-of-the-art research into artificial intelligence I think the general public will find a lot of interesting and exciting things to learn about at Showcase [AI]” Tim Havens, Director, Institute of Computing and Cybersystems
Showcase AI offers a unique look into Michigan Tech’s research into artificial intelligence During the showcase you can find examples of student and faculty research in AI at the poster session.
