Michigan Tech students help Main Street Calumet prepare the village for winter.
This past November Michigan Technological University Sustainability Living Community program students helped Main Street Calumet complete end-of-the-year work to clean out the garden boxes at the community gardeners and positioned planters for this coming spring.
The MTU Sustainability Living Community [program includes 22 students. Over the fall semester, the students completed close to 100 hours of community service projects with eight organizations in the Keweenaw peninsula, including the students’ work in November with Main Street Calumet.
Director Leah Polzin says students were rewarded with sweet treats from Ramona’s Bakery to thank them for their work.
