MTU’s Archives are a wealth of regional, state, and community history and knowledge. The archives themselves and the people who take care of them are recognized for their dedication to preserving the history of the people who live here. This past weekend at an annual conference of the Michigan Archival Association (MAA), the professional organization named their new president, Michigan Tech’s own Lindsay Hiltunen. She has been a dedicated member of the MAA since 2016. When Hiltunen was chair of the auction subcommittee, which helps support the organization’s scholarship fund. Hiltunen also served as co-editor of association’s newsletter. And just last year she had been named vice president of the organization. Hiltunen is also a regular volunteer judge for the association’s Michigan History Day project during the MAA Best Use of Primary Sources Awards for high school and middle school students. Hiltunen will serve as president for the Michigan Archival Association for two years.
