Michigan Tech and nearly 20 other employers are looking to fill full-time positions at a job fair being held today. The first session goes until 2 PM and an afternoon time slot begins at four, lasting until seven. Booths are set up in the ballroom on the second floor of the Memorial Union Building on campus.
Savannah Dougherty of Michigan Works! says there is a critical need to fill positions and that will take everyone, including non-students.
Larry Hermanson works in facilities management at Michigan Tech. He said the hope is that people interested in one company may stumble across a job elsewhere that ends up being the perfect fit.
Michigan Works! is teaming up with the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce next Tuesday and the Keweenaw Chamber on November 9th for application fairs. That will allow job seekers to learn of available positions and express interest in openings, even though employers will not be on hand to conduct interviews.
