The Michigan DNR has reached its fundraising goal for new track chairs at different state parks in the Upper and Lower Peninsula. More than 300 donors contributed to the fundraising campaign that raised over the DNR’s 400,000 dollar goal. Donations in total reached 444,931 dollars. Each track chair costs about 16,000 dollars. The track chairs help expand the disabled community’s accessibility to nature, with the chairs able to easily handle trails, snow, sand, and up to 8 inches of water. The track chairs are set up in 15 locations throughout the state, with another 10 locations planned for the near future thanks to the multiyear fundraising campaign. Tahquamenon Falls State Park is donated by Kali’s Cure. A second location in the upper peninsula expected to receive a track chair as part of the DNR’s plans includes the Fayette Historic State Park.
