Menominee man facing decades in prison for child pornography

Thirty-two-year-old Aaron Kuchinka of Menominee was arraigned earlier this week on charges of child abuse and possession of child sexually abusive material, among other alleged crimes. The investigation was conducted by the Michigan State Police Internet Crimes Against Children unit.

After obtaining a search warrant following an anonymous tip, MSP seized multiple devices capable of connecting to the internet, and other evidence at Kuchinka’s residence. He was arraigned on “three counts of child abuse second degree, one count of child sexually abusive activity – aggravated, 34 counts of child sexually abusive material – aggravated possession, and 35 counts of using a computer to commit a crime.”

Each of those counts could be punishable by at least 10 years in prison. Some carry penalties of up to 25 years.

The Upper Peninsula Human Trafficking Task Force will be hosting three presentations next week in Baraga, Ontonagon, and Houghton Counties talking about exploitation and how it affects every community. President Stephanie Krieger is a guest on Copper Country Today this Sunday.
