MDOT truck and vehicle collide in Houghton

A vehicle driven by a 19-year-old student from Port Huron was on First Street next to McNair Hall when he lost traction on ice coming down the hill Friday morning. After sliding out onto US-41 the automobile was hit by a Michigan Department of Transportation maintenance truck.

The accident is still under investigation. There was one injury. The Port Huron man had to be taken to UP Health System – Portage via Mercy Ambulance for treatment. The collision occurred at 6:05 AM Friday. First Street is one block long, connecting Woodland Drive and the highway. It is unmarked. Across US-41 is Cliff Drive.
