Inter peninsular travelers experienced nearly a full day’s delay over the weekend. The Mackinac Bridge Authority made the decision early Friday afternoon to close the bridge because of melting ice, falling from the bridges suspension cables. The bridge remained closed until Saturday morning when it was reopened to passenger cars but remained closed to high profile vehicles because of wind conditions. The MBA says that more closures can be expected in the near future as the result of rising temperatures
