M-STEP standardized test scores were released earlier this week, and in some cases they represented a pleasant surprise. For the state as a whole, scores were down across the board in reading and math for grades three through eight. Many districts had trouble getting students to show up after they had been virtual for parts, or all of the year. Hancock Superintendent Steve Patchin says they had nearly unanimous participation in 2021. You can search for your district’s results using the table found at this link.
Patchin says that even though Hancock Schools got the results late in the summer, he believes the district has already done a great job at addressing some of the weaknesses that showed up in the M-STEP report.
Houghton-Portage Township also had generally positive performance changes, with some notable exceptions. CLK Schools were mixed in english and down across the board for math.
