The month of June is commonly known as Pride month, which celebrates the LGBTQ+ community.
Pride will come to Houghton for the first time on Saturday. Keweenaw Queers will host the event at the East Houghton Waterfront Park.
“It’s more than just a party. It’s a celebration of being queer and overcoming adversity. We need to celebrate the rights that queer people have earned. We get to love each other in the open and be our true, authentic selves. We want this event to connect all the generations of queer people living in the Keweenaw Peninsula.” – Emily Stanton, Organizer of Keweenaw Pridefest
The event is free to the public.
“It’s on Saturday at East Houghton Waterfront Park from 1 to 5 pm. It’s also a community potluck, so feel free to bring food for yourself or to share, and just come for fun, community, and good vibes. And live music.” – Emily Stanton, Organizer of Keweenaw Pridefest
The Keweenaw Pridefest welcomes the public to their first ever pride fest!
