College students have just a few more weeks until the end of the semester and final exams. For some though their time on campus won’t end when they turn in their final test.
Gogebic Community College hopes to inspire graduating students by inviting a special guest and alumni to speak at the 2024 spring graduation ceremony. Gogebic Community College Alumni, Ian Lewis, has been asked to share his thoughts on graduation with seniors before sending them out into the real world.
Lewis graduated from GCC in 2016 with an Associate of Arts in Pre Law with honors. While a student he was a proud member of the Cross Country running team and was named the team’s MVP during his final season. Following graduation from GCC, Lewis attended Northern Michigan University for his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. He then earned a Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University in 2022.
Today Lewis still lives and works in the region as the Village Manager in Laurium. He’s also the youngest municipal manager appointed in the state’s history. As the village manager in Laurium, he has helped to balance the village general fund and has gained access to close to 1,000,000 dollars worth of grants.
