Taking on a leadership role in the community comes with a lot of responsibility. But these roles are also fulfilling for those looking for ways to get involved in the local area.
Laurium’s village council has a single vacancy that the board of trustees seeks to fill. The village will begin accepting applications from individuals interested in helping leadership make decisions about the village’s current and future challenges, programs, policies, and developments until April 2nd. All applications will be reviewed and an appointment then be made during a statutory meeting on April 8th.
Those seeking a position on the village council are required to be present at the April 8th meeting, either virtually or in person. The selected candidate will hold the position for several months, until November. When the individual will need to run for reelection on the November ballot.
Applications for the council position are available for pick up at the village office. Those interested in municipal government functions or have questions about what village councilors in Laurium are working on should direct questions to village manager Ian Lewis.
