Family called in Laurium Police on Monday night, just after 7:00, to find a missing person. Several organizations pitched in on the search, including Michigan State Police – Calumet Post, Houghton County Sheriff’s Department, Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department, Calumet Township Search and Rescue, Mercy EMS, and Superior Search and Rescue.
They were able to find the person in Florida, a couple miles away, after midnight. A look at the weather from that time period shows temperatures were mild. The mercury fell from the low-40’s to upper-30’s as the night wore on, with winds between five and ten miles per hour. The person was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw for treatment after being located. No information was shared on their condition or identity.
