The UP Regional Blood Center says the need for all blood types is at a critical need. As the primary supplier of blood supplies to 13 Upper Peninsula hospitals the need has a far reach into many local communities. Blood donated at several sites throughout the region allows health workers to treat conditions ranging from injuries that victims sustain in car accidents to cancer patients receiving treatment.
All donations stay in the Upper Peninsula and a single donation can save up to three lives. Donating blood doesn’t take much time either, taking about an hour to complete. Plus at the end, you get a snack.
Today the L’Anse township hall will host a blood donation site beginning at 2 pm.
The need for donations doesn’t end with a single person though. Because more donation sites offer more opportunities for the community to donate consider contacting the UP Regional Blood Center to set up a donation site in your community.
Those interested in donating blood today at the L’Anse Township Hall site will travel to 126 Main Street in L’Anse. The site will remain open from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Those interested in setting up a donation site can find contact information for the UP Regional Blood Center here.
