Kurt Rickard will be the city of Hancock’s newest Mayor. At last night’s special meeting, the city council voted to elevate councilor Rickard to the position of Mayor, from his role as Mayor Pro-tem. Councilor Lisa McKenzie will step into the pro-tem role on the council.
Additionally the council introduced the six candidates who applied to take over the at large seat, left vacant by the recent departure of former may Paul LaBine. At the city’s regular meeting tomorrow, the council will interview and vote to add either; Ryan Tanner, Zachary Osboune, Margo Pizzi, Mariana Grohowski, John Zurcher, or Branden Knoop to the council.
Last the city approved a budget expansion to the city’s transit department, to add a flex route for Michigan Tech students living in Hancock. And approved a liquor license for the fire department to go along with a fundraiser during the downtown development authority’s end of summer celebration.
