Houghton High School Students will host a special fun event for local area kids tomorrow. The Interact Club’s Interact Fun Day is the group’s biggest fundraiser. Throughout the year the student group works with local nonprofits to volunteer in the community. And like the Rotary Club, Interact Club also emphasizes international philanthropy.
“And we talked to the local VFWs, and we make, like, gift baskets for all the veterans. As far as local charities we’ve donated too. We’ve purchased firewood for Little Brothers. It’s like a smaller version of Rotary, so there is an international focus with us. So, sometimes, we’ll donate to Heffer International. we buy like cows for families.” – Claire Filpus, Vice President, Houghton High School Interact Club
Interact Club Vice President Claire Filpus says the High School’s pool will be open during the event. There will even be a couple of movies, crafts, tasty and healthy snack options, and games in the gymnasium. She adds the event offers parents a chance to drop off the kids and have a nice date night. The Interact Club’s Interact Fun Day will start at 4:30 pm tomorrow and goes until 8:30 pm. Parents can drop off kids at the Pool – Auditorium doors, at the Houghton Portage Township Schools campus on Gundlach Road. Interact Fun Day will cost 20 dollars for the first child, and another 10 dollars for each additional child who attends.
