Keweenaw Snowmobile Club and Keweenaw ATV Club Excited for Trail Maintenance Rides on Trail Three for First Time in Five Years

Trail Three between Dollar Bay and Lake Linden will re-open this coming snowmobile season for the first time in five years. In 2018, the Father’s Day flood caused an immense amount of damage along the off-road trail. Leaving behind more than 170 remediation sites, and a project that would cost millions of dollars. Now that the remedy work is nearly finished the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club and the Keweenaw ATV Club are ready for a celebration, along with some trail maintenance.

“But it offered a lot of options when that trail was open. So the last few years and not having that ability has funneled traffic to Trail #17. And led to some rough trail conditions in the late evenings, and that discouraged some traffic. And having to spur down into one of those two towns and ride back out, was not as appealing to riders.” Ryan LaPorte, Keweenaw Snowmobile Club, President

Trail maintenance rides are a great opportunity to learn more about each club and their work in the Copper Country. Those interested in getting involved with the Keweenaw snowmobile club for the upcoming snowmobile season should contact Ryan LaPorte. The snowmobile and ATV clubs do ask that those planning to help on Saturday please bring some equipment such as shovels post hole shovels, or power drill. The clubs do have a limited amount of tools available to volunteers. The Trail Three maintenance will begin at 9am, at meet at the Trailside Lodge north of Calumet. Find more information here.
