Keweenaw Sheriff’s Department helps locate missing wedding rings

Elsa Green was enjoying the beach and a beautiful summer day near Eagle River earlier this week, until she lost her wedding rings. By the time she realized what had happened, the pristine sand had already covered the bands. A local beachcomber tried to help with a metal detector, to no avail.

Green was assisted by the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit. Sergeant Brad Pelli and Dogo arrived on scene, with the shepherd taking a sniff of Green’s clothing. Once he had her scent, Dogo went to work and was able to find the rings. Pelli says the jewelry was buried pretty good.

It was enough where I had to scrape away a little bit of sand after he laid down next to them.

Green says she is so thankful, and has already promised Dogo ice cream as a reward. Something tells us here at Keweenaw Report that the treat will be eagerly accepted.
