Keweenaw Community Foundation Announces Spring Kellog Youth Fund Grant Awards

Spring can mean the start of something new. This Spring the Keweenaw Community Foundation will support several new projects and programs with the Kellogg Youth Fund. Projects and programs were chosen by the Youth Advisory Council made up of local students interested in leadership and philanthropy. In 2024 the Kellogg youth fund will support 14 projects ranging from the Big Annie Statue fund to erecting playground equipment in Ahmeek.

Bridging Gaps Childcare will receive funding to support expanding its facility and purchase new cubbies for kids. Funds going to the Equipment Loans of the Keweenaw will help purchase hiking equipment for local trails. Another trail project will purchase walkie-talkies and other safety equipment for the Copper Harbor Trails Society’s Singletrack Flyers Program. Other groups receiving funding from the Kellogg Youth Fund include the Keweenaw Family Resource Center’s Dad Parenting Toolbox program, Simple Kindness for Youth, and the Copper Country Angel Mission Backpack program. Additionally, the Youth Advisory Council chose to support the Lake Linden Robotics Team’s purchase of equipment for next season, as well as supported lowering the costs for students interested in programs with the Pine Mountain Music Festival, Girl Scouts of Northwestern Great Lakes, Copper Country Suzuki Association, and the Rabbit Island Foundation.
