Keweenaw Chamber helping to promote Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday was started barely a decade ago, but it has quickly become a staple of the holiday shopping season. It takes place a day after Black Friday, which has traditionally been a boon to larger retail stores. This year, the promotion is set for November 27th, two days after the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce encourages you to browse what area stores have to offer. They have some perks to help sweeten the deal including refreshments and donuts at their Houghton location. Coupon booklets will be available as well.

Chamber Manager Tara Arens says, “Small Business Saturday is about bringing awareness to the importance of locally-owned businesses. These businesses are essential to our local community, and they are worth supporting, and small purchases can make a big difference.”

The welcome station will be open from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Anyone who stops by will be entered into a raffle with the chance to win a $100 Keweenaw Cash gift certificate.
