Coming up on March 3rd [correction: Date was originally written as 3/5], the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, Keweenaw Young Professionals, the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance, and the Portage Health Foundation are once again set to host the Sparkplug Awards. The honor is meant to recognize all community members, from individuals to nonprofits and businesses, who provided a figurative spark to the community.
Categories include “growth” meant for businesses that have been busy hiring over the past year, “project of the year” measuring impact from an initiative or endeavor, “community contributor of the year,” and more.
Judges come from the board of directors for each organization putting on the event. To be considered for a Sparkplug Award, nominations must be turned in by January 28th.
