One of the best ways to connect with your community starts with volunteering or joining a new organization. Another great way to bond happens over a good brew too. On Saturday the Rotary Club will bring Keweenaw Brewfest back to the Houghton waterfront. While there’s a lot of fun to focus on at the event, the festival acts to support a charitable organization each year. In 2024 the Rotary Club will put the funds raised by the event toward making sure elders are fed in the Copper Country.
And this year our main contributor is the Copper Shores Meals on Wheels program. In combination with the Brewfest money, we have also been able to secure additional grant funding through Rotary’s district program. So being able to help out that program has overall been great. And we raise more money than just that. People can apply to the Houghton Rotary Foundation program to request money that we raise at the briefest. It’s a great way to support our community. –Eric Stier, Board Member, The Rotary Club of Houghton
Rotary clubs around the country bring people of all backgrounds together with the mission to help and support youth and charitable goals in their communities. Stier adds that the local club has grown an endowment fund for youth to pursue education after high school. Keweenaw Brewfest volunteer training will begin at 6 pm tonight at the Lake Shore Center. Tickets for Brewfest can be found online. You must be 21 years old or older to attend Keweenaw Brewfest.
