A May hearing date has been set for the two individuals accused of the murder of Alvin Kempainen in Hancock Township. Jacob Kempainen and Margaret Kempainen, both of Harland, Wisconsin, have had preliminary exams scheduled in the 97th district court for May 31st.
Prosecutor Dan Helmer and defense representatives asked to schedule the hearing toward the end of the month to ensure that nothing else was on the court docket.
Both have been charged with one count of homicide open murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Jacob Kempainen is also charged with a felony firearms count. He was identified as the shooter of Alvin Kempainen during the police investigation. Both were found competent to stand trial earlier in the year.
