Karl Dresch to be released

A plea deal has been accepted by Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson in the case of United States of America vs. Karl Dresch. The Calumet native agreed Wednesday to be found guilty on one misdemeanor count of Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building.

The maximum sentence allowable for the charge is six months in prison. Dresch has been in jail since January, and has enough credit accrued in time already served to be released immediately.

There was no mention of violations related to the firearms found at Dresch’s home during the investigation earlier this year. Dresch was previously convicted of a felony for leading police on a high speed chase near the Wisconsin border several years ago. He is prohibited from possessing guns.
