Kansas man injured in snowmobile crash

On Wednesday afternoon, around 1:45, a Kansas man suffered significant injuries when he crashed his snowmobile on Trail 3, just south of Lac La Belle Road. The man was headed north when his sled crashed into another snowmobile, operated by a woman coming from the opposite direction. The man was thrown from his machine due to the accident.

He was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and transferred to UP Health Systems Marquette. No update is available on his condition. The accident is under investigation, but speed is suspected as a primary factor for the crash. Assisting the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were personnel from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Lac La Belle Grant Township Fire Department, first responders, Superior Service Towing, and Keweenaw County Off-Road Rescue.
