Norris

MLB
Daniel Norris gave up a pair of home runs, as the Detroit Tigers fell to the Los Angeles Angels 5-3 last night. Norris allowed four runs over six innings, and took the loss. Alex Avila homered for Detroit.

Kinsler

The Tigers host the Angels again tonight. Buck Farmer will pitch against Alex Meyer. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

As expected, the Tigers brought second baseman Ian Kinsler off the disabled list in time for last night’s game. JaCoby Jones was sent to Toledo to make room. Catcher James McCann was also sent to Toledo, where he began a rehab assignment as he recovers from a laceration on his hand.

Anderson

Chase Anderson pitched shutout ball into the eighth inning, as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the San Francisco Giants 5-2 last night. Anderson has not allowed a run in his last 21-2/3rds innings. Hernán Pérez homered for Milwaukee. Cory Knebel earned the save after Carlos Torres gave up a pair of runs in the ninth inning.

The Brewers entertain the Giants again tonight. Jimmy Nelson will start against Ty Blach.

Former Brewer Scooter Gennett had quite a game last night. Playing for the Cincinnati Reds, he went five for five with four home runs, and 10 runs batted in.

Twilight League
The Copper Country Twilight Baseball League play last night…
– Dean Kangas State Farm opened its season with a 3-1 victory over REL. Brady Turner went the distance for the win, and had two hits. Kyle Storm had three hits.
– Cole Jepsen pitched a three-hitter, as Superior National Bank-Stanton blanked Wolverine-Orbit 3-0. Tyler LaDuron had two hits and scored a run for Stanton.

NBA
The NBA championship series continues tonight in Cleveland. The Golden State Warriors lead the Cleveland Cavaliers two games to none.

Glendening

NHL
Detroit Red Wings center Luke Glendening is recovering from ankle surgery. Glendening hurt a tendon late in the season, and the injury didn’t respond to therapy. The three-to-four month recovery time means he may not be ready for the start of training camp.

The Stanley Cup series continues tomorrow, as the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Nashville Predators. The series is tied at two wins per team.

Steward

MTU
Dallas Steward will join the Michigan Tech hockey program as an assistant coach. He’ll replace Joe Shawhan, who was recently promoted to head coach. Steward comes to Tech from the Chicago Steel, where he was an associate head coach with the team that just won the Clark Cup as USHL champions. He played college hockey at Alaska-Anchorage.

Lake Trout Festival
Registration remains open until Friday for the Keweenaw Bay Classic Fishing Tournament at the Baraga County Lake Trout Festival this Saturday. The mandatory captains meeting will be held Friday at 6:00 at Meadowbrook Arena. Registration also remains open until Friday for the Lake Trout Festival Run and Walk. The event includes a half-marathon, the eight-mile Pequaming run and walk, and a three-mile family fun run and walk. Sign up for both events at LakeTroutFestival.com.
