Ahmeek has a few new bells and whistles. A couple weeks ago the fire department welcomed to the department their newest vehicle. Last year the department’s volunteers worked through fundraisers, and grants to purchase a 2021 Ford F550 XLT 4X4 truck. A lot more work has been done to fully equip and outfit the truck, and more is still on it’s way. In addition to the new vehicle, the portage health foundation gifted Ahmeek’s Fire Department a 5,000 dollar grant. So the department can purchase a 22 foot Empire Cargo Trailer, so the department can expand their off road rescue and fire fighting capabilities. The trailer will house an ATV off road rescue vehicle, and wildfire equipment including portable pumps, generators, and a variety of other tools. Stop by the department on Monday for their Fourth of July celebrations and catch a peek at the new truck and trailer. The kids parade will start the day at 11 am. There will be games, food, and drinks, as well as live music from the wingnuts after noon on Monday. Bingo at 2, and the 50/50 raffle will be available for purchase all day. All of the Ahmeek Fire Department’s Fourth of July celebrations will take place in the Gabriel-Chopp Park, in the village of Ahmeek.
