It’s Girl Scout cookie season in the UP

The Girl Scouts have been selling delicious treats like Thin Mints for over 100 years and they have seen their fair share of challenges during that time. Perhaps it is no surprise that troops today are proving resilient in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Marketing and Communications Director Missy Brozek says that there are perks to trying out the new online ordering system rather than sticking with the traditional methods.

Customers who are ordering online are already receiving their orders. If you place your order online you get it really fast! And then in March is when you will see cookie booths popping up, drive-thru cookie booths, and things like that.

There’s a new flavor this season, Toast-Yays, inspired by the breakfast favorite french toast. Brozek says that the goal is to introduce something different each year. Unfortunately, the lineup doesn’t expand, so anytime there is an addition, there has to be a subtraction.

This will be the last year for the S’mores cookies which we know is making people really sad. So, if you do have some extra room in your freezer we suggest stocking up on those.

Thin Mints will be sticking around for sure. Cookie season for Upper Peninsula troops ends on April 4th.
